Treatbot | Free Ice Cream
Straight from Treatbot’s owner, Ryan Sebastian:
“I have some really exciting news to share with all of you. Starting Monday, Treatbot will be handing out 1,000 double scoops for free! Yes, free. We have partnered with the awesome team at Waze, the social mapping company, to make this happen. To participate, just download Waze (waze.com) to your iPhone, Android or other smartphone device and bring it to Treatbot! Waze provides free turn by turn navigation based on maps automagically created by Waze users. As a traffic engineer, I can certifiably say that this is awesome and the app is top notch. Download Waze today and have some free Treatbot (one free item per participant).”
Hopefully there’s be some free scoops leftover by the time FAME FW2010 comes around!

Unscripted | Summer 2010
Roy Masuko, founder and creative director of Unscripted, was kind enough to send me a thank you letter and two of their threads, a gray cardigan and a Huntsman Woven, soon after exhibiting at
FAME SS2010. As you may notice by the wrinkles on the paper, I need to work on doing a better job at returning the favor in a timely manner.

Far East Dragon Lion Dance Association | 10th Anniversary Dinner
My longtime friend and supporter, Albert Le, is having a 10th Anniversary Dinner for his group, Far East Dragon Lion Dance Association. Please read the following for event details and help out in whatever way possible:
“Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues and Community,
I wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to our 10th anniversary dinner banquet on Friday August 20, 2010 at the India Community Center Banquet Hall! With a capacity of 450 people, the Banquet Hall at the India Community Center is larger than our previous banquet at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda, which sold out! Pictures from our previous banquet can be found at our website: http://www.fedliondance.org/
A CELEBRATION OF ART AND CULTURE
Once again, our event will be showcasing our students to the public and their families with a full program of lion dancing, dragon dancing, and martial arts performances including M Team Tae Kwon Do Demo Team, a youth oriented and operated group that is fresh off competing in Dallas, Korea, and Egypt among many other places around the world. New to this year will be an art auction showcasing cultural art not only by our own students, but also by local guest artists.
THEME AND TICKETS
Our theme this year “Bridging Youth and Culture” continues in our celebration of youth professional lion dance only group founded and 501(c)3 incorporated by youth, but maintained with the support of our community. Of course, one form of supporting our cause is actually attending our event. Tickets are $50 per person, which is much cheaper than most non-profit benefit dinners. Special students rates are available $30 a ticket. Also, as a special offer, the first 150 guests to arrive for our dinner will receive a hanging lion head ornament perfect for car display.
For more ticket information, please contact Justin Sturm at dinner@fedliondance.org
SPONSORSHIP
Another form of support is also through sponsorship. We have several different levels of sponsorship and opportunities table sponsorships that can include special recognition, an ad in our program/promotional booklet and our organization website, and dotting of lion heads. A sponsorship package is attached.
For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Steven Le at steven.le@fedliondance.org
Help us spread the word to support local youth! Most importantly, I would love to see you all at our event to support our local youth with this dinner banquet.

Alum Rock Youth Center | Update
According to the Rose Garden Resident:
“Alma, ALUM ROCK, Gardner, Starbird and Washington community centers have survived the chopping block for one more year, and seniors at Alma and Gardner in the Willow Glen area will not have to worry about relocating this year.”
Just another day in the life of non-profits.

Nasty Ray | San Diego Workshop
Nasty Ray has only taught two workshops in the States. One in San Jose and the other in Washington, DC. If you’re lucky enough to live in the San Diego area or willing to make the trip there, I highly recommend taking his workshop. It’s not often that a great dancer is also a great teacher.
